  What are the limitations of the Victron VE.Bus Smart Dongle

  I’ve got a VE.Bus Smart dongle, and I’m wondering about its limitations. Can you shed some light on what I can’t do with it?

  The VE.Bus Smart dongle is a great tool tool, but it does have its limitations, especially when connected over Bluetooth.

  With this setup, you can read status data, voltages, and other information, and also operate the device to some extent like switching between On, Off, and Charger-only modes, and setting a Shore current input limit.

  However, you can’t make changes to the product’s settings or perform firmware updates through it.

  For those tasks, you’ll need an MK3-USB, and since it requires a USB port, configuring or updating firmware on Apple iPad or iPhone isn’t possible. Also, VictronConnect doesn’t support the older MK2-USB.
