How to Share your Victron VRM Data [UPDATED 2024]

This video explains how to share your Victron Remote Management (VRM) data via a link or by embedding it into a website. You can activate sharing through the VRM portal by logging in, accessing settings, and enabling site sharing.

Additional options include password protection, hiding your location, and displaying your system on Victron World.

Once enabled, you can share the VRM link through various means like email or social media, and even embed it on a website.

The feature is view-only, ensuring your settings remain secure.

Sharing Your VRM Data

1. Log In and Access Settings:
   1. First things first, head over to the Victron Energy website at VRM, dot, Victron Energy, dot com and log in to your VRM account. 
   2. Once you’re in, navigate to your installation, which should be selected by default if you have only one system. However, if you have multiple systems, you will have to select the system you want to share for this process, as each needs to be done independently.
   3. Once inside your installation, look for the hamburger menu icon, (represented by those three horizontal lines), found in the top left corner of the screen.
   4. Click on this icon, and from the menu that pops up, select the “Share” option.
      
2. Enable Sharing and Set Preferences:
   1. A popup window will appear, with a single toggle to “Enable site sharing”. Click to enable it. 
   2. Sharing of your system will now be activated, together with more options to customize it further.

There are also some extra optional settings here that you can enable:

• Password Protection: For added security, you can enable the “Password protect” option, and set a password. This way, only those with the password can access your data. However, it’s very important not to set this password the same as your VRM account password, as doing so can and will get your system compromised, which you definitely don’t want. 
• Location Privacy: For privacy reasons, you can choose to “Hide my exact location” by toggling that option as well.
• Show on Victron World: You can also enable viewing of your system on Victron’s virtual map, by enabling the “Show on Victron World” option. Once enabled, everyone in the world will be able to find your installation, when they visit the VRM, dot, Victron Energy, dot com, forward slash, world, URL. You are also welcome to visit this URL, without sharing your system, to browse other systems around the world.

3. Sharing the Link: Below the preferences is your unique system URL. This is the magic link you can share with others! Simply click the “Copy” button next to the URL to copy it to your clipboard, then paste this link wherever you want to share your VRM, such as in a whatsapp message, on social media or in an email.

Beyond manually copy pasting the link, there are also some alternative sharing options available to you.

• Email Sharing: The VRM portal also lets you send the link directly via email. Enter the recipient’s email address in the provided field and click “Send.”
• Website Embedding: If you’re feeling tech-savvy, you can even embed the dashboard view on your website! Just copy the provided HTML iframe code and paste it into your website’s code, such as in WordPress for example.

Save and Monitor Access: Once done, simply close the popup window to finalize your sharing settings.
